Scientists discover secret of painless fat burning – Yahoo! India News

Washington, Feb 4 (IANS) Researchers have stumbled upon the secret of painless fat burning, says a new study.

The target in this case is an enzyme that indirectly controls the activity of what researchers refer to as the 'energy master switch.'

It boils down to this: When you give mice a chemical that blocks the function of the enzyme known as Fyn kinase, they almost immediately begin burning more fat.

'When there is an imbalance between what we eat and what we burn,' the outcome is obesity, said Claire Bastie of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Neuroscience.

'And the problem of obesity is not going away. This is a new mechanism to help the body to burn extra energy.'

Bastie's team earlier showed that mice lacking Fyn kinase altogether burn more fatty acids and expend more energy to become leaner.

They also showed other metabolic improvements, including increased insulin sensitivity. Those effects were the result of higher levels of the master energy switch AMPK in their fat and muscle tissue.

Those findings suggested that the enzyme might offer a useful target for a new kind of weight loss drug.

Now, researchers bolstered that idea by showing that chemical inhibition of Fyn kinase with an experimental drug known only as SU6656 does have considerable metabolic benefits for mice.

Ultimately, the animals appear to become increasingly fit as they lose fat and keep lean, says a release of Albert Einstein.

These findings appeared in the February issue of Cell Metabolism.

Repeat 8 to 10 times

If you go for the full 10 rounds, the workout will only last 10 minutes. This may seem as though the workout is too short, but the idea is to as hard as possible during the “work” phase. The “active rest” phase will not require as much intensity as the work phase, and is designed to keep your body in motion to help burn more fat.

The high intensity required for interval training is what makes this type of exercise one of the most amazing fat burning secrets. Your metabolic rate will stay elevated for hours after the workout has completed, which will help you to burn up calories while at rest and not just while exercising.

Another benefit of this fat burning secret is the improved level of conditioning. Your cardio-respiratory work capacity will be well above those who use “aerobics” to get in shape. Which is more difficult, jogging for a mile or running ten sprints of 100 yards at full speed? Anyone who has tried both will tell you the sprinting is MUCH harder.

Also, the interval training workouts will be much shorter in duration than the traditional “45 minutes on the treadmill” routines. You can get an incredible, heart-pumping workout done in 10 minutes using the routine listed above. And, because these workouts are shorter in duration and require your muscles to work hard, your body will retain muscle mass giving you the athletic body you want.

Intervals can be used with just about any type of exercise movement. Ideas could include sprinting, dumbbell swings, medicine ball slams, body weight exercises, and the list goes on. The main component is the high intensity required to perform the exercise. You can make just about any workout movement more intense if you will work as hard as you safely can.

Interval training is one of the best fat burning secrets you will find. If you make good nutrition a priority, then you will see the excess fat disappear even more quickly. Try using intervals 2 – 3 times per week, and in a couple of months you will be amazed at how much fat you can lose.
